1996-2008
Farewell Byron, our wonderful whimsical "big black boy",
for eleven years you've blessed our lives with unbounded love and joy.
We can still see you romping in the back yard,
part long-legged colt, part wise old bard.
Summer flowers dressed in winter's snow,
we'll tread gently and let you go.
Your paw prints remain, they have no end,
you live in our hearts, dear unselfish friend.
So rest for awhile, and when you must,
resume your playful lively thrust
into the heavens and beyond the sun
where we'll meet again, when day is done.
